- What is The Silo Package-Free Pantry?
- We are a low-waste, bulk food delivery service in the San Francisco Bay Area specializing in dry, organic, and locally-grown foods. We used to serve farmers markets in Marin and Sonoma counties and have since moved to a contact-free delivery based system once COVID-19 lockdowns were in place. We also expanded our product line to include locally grown organic produce, bread and pastries, coffee, and grass fed/pasture raised meats and eggs. And, we’re expanding our options all the time! Want to see something specific? Contact us and request it!
- Where do you deliver?
- We serve a large part of the SF Bay Area (Sunnyvale to Santa Rosa along Highway 101/280 and Milpitas to Richmond along the 880/580). Please contact us if you are uncertain of our service area.
- What days do you deliver?
- General delivery days are Sundays. We also delivery mid-week if we have the demand.
- Notes:
- Produce is currently only available on Sundays.
- Produce and bread order cutoff times are Thursday 11:59 PM for Sunday delivery and Saturday 6:00 PM for Tuesday/Wednesday delivery.
- The Midwife&The Baker and Space&Plow products are currently not available to the East Bay. If you check out with these items, we will contact you offline and refund you.
- How does it work?
- Bulk food items (beans, grains, flour, nuts) are priced per pound and delivered to your door packaged into compostable, 100% recycled kraft paper bags and taped with paper packaging tape.
- Eggs are priced per dozen and are packaged in compostable paper cartons. We also take egg cartons back to be reused if they are in good condition!
- Bread is priced per item, unless otherwise indicated, and are packaged in paper bags. If bread items are not consumed on the same day as delivery, we recommend transferring them to a sealed container. Bread items are always baked the same day as delivery. Always.
- Meat comes frozen, vacuum-sealed in plastic, and then put in an insulated bag with an ice pack (if we know you will be home to receive the meat, we may skip the ice pack). We take back the insulated bags and ice packs and reuse them. Every insulated bag and every ice pack we deliver was originally created to be single-use, but we sanitize and reuse them over and over again, keeping them out of the landfill and hopefully to a point when they can get recycled.
- Produce items are generally placed directly into the delivery box, although some items may come in a paper bag.
- All deliveries are made in used cardboard boxes that we acquire anywhere we can, including from customers. We always take boxes back to be reused if they are in good condition! Do you have boxes to donate instead of throwing in the recycling bin? We’ll take them, sanitize them, and reuse them!
- Order minimum is $35 with a $5 delivery fee. Ask us how you can get free delivery!

- What precautions are you taking with COVID-19?
- We follow strict codes and guidelines per the California Department of Public Health as well as local county and federal guidelines.
- To go above and beyond, we sanitize our equipment, surfaces, and facilities at a higher water temperature than code requires.
- All reused boxes and egg cartons get naturally sanitized prior to reusing.
- How do you prevent cross-contamination for those with certain food allergies?
- Each product is stored in it's own bin with a secure lid.
- We use dedicated scoops and funnels for each product type.
- All items are packaged in a facility that contains nuts, wheat, soy, and dairy.
- For those with severe food allergies, please contact us before purchasing.
